SCAN-TO-PRINT

Reproducing an object can be time-consuming, tedious, and error-prone. The SOL 3D scanner and software allows you to easily create a replica of objects using six simple steps:

  1. Scan the object using the SOL 3D scanner with included software.
  2. Review your scan in the SOL Viewer.
  3. Export in one of the supported formats: OBJ, STL, XYZ, DAE, and PLY files.
  4. Import your scan into your slicer software (such as Slic3r, Simplify3D, and Cura) for evaluation and any clean-up required.
  5. Resize or transform your scan as desired.
  6. Print, save, or export to have someone else print it.

SCAN-TO-MODEL

Creating an accurate 3D model of a complex object can be difficult. The SOL 3D scanner helps jump-start your modeling by giving you accurately sized replica objects. Then, these can then be incorporate into your project, or used as a reference object in your 3D modeling software. A typical workflow to accelerate your modeling process is:

  1. Scan the object using the SOL 3D scanner with included software.
  2. Review your scan in the SOL Viewer.
  3. Export in one of the supported formats: OBJ, STL, XYZ, DAE, and PLY files.
  4. Import your scan into your modeling software.
  5. Incorporate your scan into your model or project, or use it as a reference as you build something new.

SCAN-TO-SHARE

In the past, sharing a 3D representation of something has been challenging. The SOL 3D scanner and software make this easy, especially with the free cloud storage space provided when you purchase a scanner. To share your scans, simply:

  1. Scan the object using the SOL 3D scanner with included software.
  2. Review your scan in the SOL Viewer.
  3. Upload to P3D.in: Every SOL customer receives sufficient free cloud storage for approximately 30 scans to be uploaded and shared. Simply click on the P3D icon in the viewer toolbar, and we’ll handle the rest.

WHAT CUSTOMERS ARE SAYING…

“Wow the resolution is amazing and the software so simple a 10 year old mastered it in a few minutes.”– Valued Customer

“Just Brilliant. I was able to scan an incredibly small model head with minute details like a clef chin and it was visible in a zoom! Super happy. As reference this was a 1/12 scale human head.”– Customer in Austin, Texas

The scan quality is great […], you probably won’t find a scanner that is so easy to use then this one. My child uses it without very much instruction. I love the tent is included.”– TrustPilot reviewer

How it Works

The Scan Dimension engineering team focused on developing an incredibly easy-to-use scanner. To start a scan, users simply place an object on a turntable, cover it with the included tent, and press a button — the laser, camera, and software do the rest.

SOL notifies users of the next steps with sounds or text messages. SOL features near- and far-mode scanning, and supports the following dimensions and maximum weight:

  • For near-mode scanning, an object up to 100 mm in diameter and 100 mm tall (3.9 by 3.9 inches).

  • For far-mode scanning, an object up to 170 mm in diameter and 170 mm tall (6.69 by 6.69 inches).

  • The maximum scannable weight is 2kg (4.4 lbs. or 70.5 ounces).
