Frequently Asked Questions

Can I transmit RFID tag read data over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth?

Yes, on FXR60 Premium models. The built-in Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11ax) and Bluetooth (Class 1, Bluetooth v5.3 with BLE) can be used for both RFID tag data and remote management. FXR60 Standard models connect over Ethernet.

Can the FXR60 collect data from Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) devices in addition to RFID tags?

Yes. On FXR60 Premium configurations, the built-in Bluetooth radio acts as a BLE bridge, allowing the reader to discover nearby BLE beacons and sensors and forward that data through the Zebra IoT Connector. BLE data can be routed to its own endpoint separate from RFID tag data, with filtering applied so only the devices and events relevant to your solution are reported.

I have an existing application built for the FX9600 or FXR90. Will it work with the FXR60?

Yes. All three readers support the Zebra IoT Connector, LLRP, and the Fixed Reader Host and Embedded SDKs, allowing the FXR60 to integrate into existing applications and deployments. Refer to the product integration guides and Zebra IoT Connector documentation for model-specific capabilities.

Can I use a mobile device to locally control an FXR60 fixed RFID reader over Bluetooth?

Yes, on FXR60 Premium models with built-in Bluetooth. The Zebra IoT Connector can be used to create an application that directly controls an FXR60 fixed RFID reader from nearly any mobile device.

Can I use readily available antenna cables, or my existing cables with an RP-TNC connection?

Yes. The FXR60 antenna ports use a black Type A Fakra connector, so any antenna cable with that reader-side connection will work. For legacy installs, the Zebra CBLRD-1F3160006R pigtail converts the port back to RP-TNC. Zebra also offers Fakra Type A antenna cables with N-Type (CBLRD-1F6xxxx00N) and SMA (CBLRD-1F6xxxx00S) antenna-side connectors.

What type of HDMI cable will I need to purchase separately?

The micro-HDMI port on FXR60 Premium models accepts any standard micro-HDMI cable. These cables are widely available and can usually be ordered online and received in days.
